It has been a rough year on the field for the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It hasn’t been much better off the field for one of its top players, cornerback Aqib Talib. The Buc was charged for assault when he punched a Tampa cab driver in the neck and ear when he left a St. Petersburg nightclub and headed to Tampa.
According to the St. Pete Times, Talib may avoid a trial according to his attorney. The judge in the case asked if pre-trial intervention was a possibility. The defense attorney said he and the prosecutors were hopeful for something else but he would not elaborate on what the two parties were discussing. The pre-trial intervention would include a year of probation that would end in the charges being dropped if Talib stayed out of trouble.
