Fatal Hit-And-Run Investigation In Sarasota Leads To Questioning Of Unidentified Person

he Sarasota Herald Tribune is reporting that the Florida Highway Patrol is questioning someone in connection with Monday’s fatal hit-and-run in Sarasota. There is no word as of yet if the person is a suspect in the hit-and-run or just a witness. According to the story at least two people witnessed the crash that cost 56-year-old Luther Whitaker his life.

The driver of the car left the scene of the accident that occurred near the Siesta Drive roundabout at 8:00 p.m. First reports had the vehicle described as a dark colored compact car but the FHP could not confirm that description of the vehicle.

Tampa Aggravated Battery Charges Filed Against Man Who Beat His One-Legged Brother With A Golf Club

A fight between brothers ended up in aggravated battery charges on Tuesday, According to TampaBay.com police arrested a Tampa man for assaulting his disabled brother with a golf club. Robert Derick Bowman is being held without bail in Hillsborough County Jail.

According to reports the fight started over $3 that was missing. That argument escalated to the point that Robert Bowman picked up a golf club and began hitting his brother in the head and body multiple times. He is being held on charges of aggravated battery on a disabled adult with a deadly weapon.

Registered Sex Offender Arrested In Tampa On 69 Counts Of Accessing Child Porn On His Computer

A 31-year-old man who was convicted of sexual battery in Pinellas County and served three years in jail is in trouble again. Stephen D. Olman was arrested in Tampa on 69 counts of using his computer for lewd and lascivious behavior. Olman was in jail from 1999-2002 on sexual battery charges and then in jail again from 2004-2007 for violation of probation.

Olman is now being held in Hillsborough County jail. His bail was set at more than a half million dollars. Police arrested him for downloading numerous pornographic images involving children according to TampaBay.com.

Florida Woman Shoots At Boyfriend With A Shotgun Due To Self-Admitted Stupidity

Pasco County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested Susan N. Robbins on charges of aggravated assault and discharging a firearm in public. The woman shot the ground about six inches from her boyfriend in what she later described as an act of “stupidity” according to a story on TampaBay.com. Robbins’ boyfriend, Jackson L. Prescott, has been in prison five times on convictions for grand theft and aggravated battery.

Robbins is being held at Pasco County jail. She told deputies that Prescott, who is now her ex-boyfriend had a history of abuse and lies. She said she wanted to stop him from hurting the new woman in his life. The story reports that this is the first arrest for Robbins and that Prescott was not hurt in the incident.

Bradenton Man Charged With Domestic Battery For Throwing Chihuahua At His Wife

A Bradenton, Florida man has been charged with  domestic battery and animal cruelty after he threw a caged Chihuahua at his wife. According to a Bradenton Police Department report the incident took place in the midst of an argument. Adam Keenan was arrested just after midnight Tuesday.

The 34-year-old was  arrested at his residence. According to the Bradenton Herald, the man’s stepdaughter told the police about the alleged domestic violence. Police did not observe any injuries to the woman or the dog when they arrived on the scene. Keenan reportedly admitted to throwing the dog but said it was an accident.

High Speed Chase Through Pinellas County Leads To Discovery Of AK-47 And Arrests

Deputies in Pinellas County conducted a high-speed car chase with speeds reaching nearly 90 MPH early Tuesday morning according to WTSP.com. The chase began when deputies attempted a routine traffic stop for a vehicle with a stolen tag attached. The car failed to stop and the suspects took off running red lights and stop signs. Two men in their 20′s were arrested and charged with multiple crimes including resisting an officer without violence and felon in possession of a firearm.

After deputies stopped the car, they found a ski mask and AK-47 inside. Detectives are unsure if the pair committed a robbery or were planning on that they are also unsure if the car was stolen at the time of the story. A spokesman for the Pinellas County sheriff’s office said if the incident happened at another time of day deputies may not have been able to pursue the suspects in a high-speed chase.

Florida Woman Arrested On 13 Counts Of Assault After Driving Her Car Into MLK Day Parade Route

Latricia Samuel is in jail on 13 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after she drove her car into the path of a MLK Day parade. The 37-year-old Samuels was arrested and had her bail set at over $65,000 as she nearly ran over women, children in strollers and police officers. At least one person was injured due to her actions.

According to a sheriff’s report the Broward County woman was trying to park near the parade route. She was told by officers she was not allowed to park there. Samuels then drove off directly into the parade path according to an Associated Press story. After nearly hitting three babies in strollers, Samuels sped off to the highway where she was arrested following a crash.

Prostitute Leaves 3-Month-Old In The Car Outside A Tampa Apartment While She Is With A John

A woman who admitted to having sex for money while her baby was in a car unattended has been arrested in Tampa. Latosha Yeadon has been charged with prostitution, aggravated child neglect, aggravated child abuse and contributing to the dependency of a child according to TampaBay.com. This is her fourth arrest related to a prostitution charge.

Yeadon left her 3-month-old baby in the back seat of a Jeep while she met a man with whom she exchanged sex for money. The 30-year-old said she met the man on the Internet. A maintenance worker discovered the baby in the unattended car and alerted paramedics and deputies. Yeadon freely admitted to police she was at the Tampa apartment complex to prostitute herself.

Tampa Bay Buccaneer Looks To Resolve Battery Charge With Pretrial Intervention

Tampa Bay Buccaneer cornerback Aquib Talib made headlines during the season when he got into an altercation with a cab driver early one morning and was charged with battery. The battery charge followed Talib allegedly striking a cab driver on a ride from a St. Petersburg club to a Tampa hotel. The NFL player hopes to have the simple battery charge resolved by entering a diversion program in Pinellas County.

According to TBO.com a first time offender is eligible to enter the diversion program upon approval. If the person is allowed to enroll and successfully completes the program, the charges can be dismissed without prejudice. Talib will go to court in a month and find out if he will be allowed to enroll in the program.

Punishment For Battery On A Police Officer, Wear A Sign Apologizing

A 24-year-old Alabama woman charged with battery on a law enforcement officer in Orlando entered into an unusual plea agreement. The woman accepted a deal to lesser charges of simple battery and resisting an officer without violence. In return she would wear a sign that said “I battered a police officer. I was wrong. I apologize”. Alexandra Espinosa-Amaya wore the sign for four hours outside the police station.

Espinosa-Amaya is a student at Jacksonville State University and she was at an Orlando bar when she got involved in an altercation with bouncers and then a police officer. The young woman pushed her palm into the face of the cop according to a story on Bradenton.com. On top of wearing the sign, Espinosa-Amaya was ordered to attend anger management, write an apology letter, perform community service and spend two years on probation.
